A/Prof Giuseppe (Peppe) Sasso
Associate Professor Giuseppe (Peppe) Sasso is a radiation oncologist working in Auckland and Dunedin with sub-speciality interest in genito-urinary, head & neck and breast cancers.
He has extensive experience in Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) and pioneered its adoption in New Zealand for treatment of prostate and kidney cancers and early-metastatic malignancies (oligo-metastases). He is the New Zealand Principal Investigator for PACE-C clinical trial and has prescribed and supervised the planning and delivery over 150 treatments with Prostate SABR in New Zealand.
A/Prof Sasso is a Fellow of the Faculty of Radiation Oncology of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences of the University of Auckland; and Honorary Academic at the School of Medicine of the University of Brescia (Italy).
Prior to moving to New Zealand 15 years ago, Peppe has worked in comprehensive cancer centres in Italy, UK, Australia, UAE (with Johns Hopkins Medicine International) and France. He was Director of the Radiation Oncology Department at Auckland City Hospital from 2010 to 2020, President of the Board of Directors of TROG Cancer Research and Chairman of the New Zealand Ministry of Health Radiation Oncology Working Group.
He is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
